In the 2022-23 Champions League, 14 teams had already confirmed the knockout stages, with 2 remaining. AC Milan and Leipzig filled those two spots on Wednesday night. And Salzburg, Shakhtar Donetsk and Juventus dropped to the Europa League after finishing third in their group.

Chelsea 2-1 Dinamo Zagreb
Chelsea, who had already confirmed the knockouts, fell behind in the 7th minute with Bruno Petkovic’s goal. However, Raheem Sterling equalized after 11 minutes. Denis Zakaria made it 2-1 for Chelsea in the 30th minute. The match ended with these three goals in the first half.
Good to know: After a goalless draw at Manchester United in September 1999, Dinamo Zagreb failed to keep a clean sheet in an away match in the group stage.
AC Milan 4-0 Salzburg
It was a life-and-death battle for both teams at Milan’s San Siro. Whoever wins will join Chelsea in the knockouts from the group. Milan beat Salzburg 4-0 in such a match. 1 of the 4 goals came in the first half; Olivier Giroud in the 14th minute. The French striker scored another goal in the 57th minute. In addition, Rade Krunich scored two more goals in the 46th minute and Junior Messias in the 91st minute.
Good to know: Milan reached the last sixteen of the Champions League for the first time since 2014. Won two consecutive matches after 2011.

Real Madrid 5-1 Celtic
A winless win in any of their previous 5 matches was no challenge for Celtic Real. Rather, the match at the Santiago Bernabeu was to sharpen their game in the group. Luka Modric and Rodrigo started the match by scoring from the penalty spot in the 6th and 21st minutes of the match. 3 more scored in the second half – Marco Asensio, Vinicius Junior and Fede Valverde. In the end, substitute Jota scored a goal for the Scottish club.

Shakhtar 0-4 Leipzig
The “home match” of the Ukrainian club Shakhtar took place in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. Leipzig scored three goals in 62 minutes in a one-sided match. Christopher Nkunku, Andre Silva and Dominic Sobozlai scored three goals. Valery Bandar scored Shakhtar’s own goal.
Good to know: Leipzig won four consecutive matches in the Champions League – an unprecedented feat by a German club.

Manchester City 3-1 Sevilla
In the end, Manchester City won by 2 goals. But it was Sevilla who took the lead early on. Rafa Mir put the Spanish club ahead in the 31st minute at the Etihad. However, in the second half, Rico Luis, Julian Alvarez and Riyad Mahrez scored consecutive goals for City.
Good to know: Rico Lewis scored his first Champions League goal at the age of 17 years and 364 days. Karim Benzema scored the goal at the age of 17 years and 352 days while playing for Lyon in 2005.
Copenhagen 1-1 Dortmund
Copenhagen managed 11 goals in the first 5 matches, but could not give a single one to the opponent’s net. The Danish club’s first goal in the Champions League came in the last match of the group stage. Arnar Haraldsson scored the goal in the 41st minute. Before that, Giovanni Reina gave Dortmund the lead in 23 minutes. The match ended with two goals in the first half.
Good to know: Copenhagen have lost just one of their last 15 Champions League group stage home matches, drawing the last five.

Juventus 1-2 PSG
What could have been one of the most interesting matches of the group was a mere formality. Juventus, who had already been eliminated from the group stage, did not even get a consolation win in the last match. PSG went ahead with a great goal by Kylian Mbappe in the 13th minute. Leonardo Bonucci redeemed it in the 39th minute. But in the 69th minute, the substitute Nuno Mendes scored a goal for the Parisian club to win.
Good to know: Mbappe now has 40 goals in the Champions League. He touched this milestone in 23 years and 317 days. It took Messi 187 more days to reach 40 goals.
Maccabi Haifa 1-6 Benfica
Benfica scored five of the six goals in the last 31 minutes. Even though the points are equal with PSG, the Portuguese club has also won the group with a 6-1 margin.
Good to know: This is the first time Benfica has picked up 14 points in the group stage of the Champions League.
Champions League last sixteen
The Champions League group stage is over. Last night ended with 8 matches for the teams to advance to the next round. The draw for the last 16 will take place on Monday at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
Two teams from the same group cannot meet in the last sixteen. No two teams from the same league can meet in the last sixteen. The last sixteen first leg matches will be played on February 14, 15, 21 and 22. Return leg on March 7, 18, 14 and 15.
